New Dead Girl
Suzanne Pleshette

RIP
My mother taught me a lot about movies when I was a child. When A RAGE TO LIVE (1965) finally made it to television, she couldn't wait to see it. Just before the movie started, I asked her what the story was about. She told me the female main character was a "slut." Suzanne dominated the film. Then she appeared as a tough prison wench in NEVADA SMITH (1966). Her performances in both these films felt so truthful that I had to adjust to her playing the sweet and sensitive wife on television's NEWHART show. But she proved herself capable of playing the femme fatale once again when she played Leona Helmsley in a 1990 film. She was always compelling, always charming, and always a pro.
Suzanne Pleshette appeared in Hitchcock's THE BIRDS (1963) as the sympathetic school teacher who sacrifices herself to save a child. While she doesn't fit the profile of "Hitch's Bitches" (her character has dark hair and is an authentic soul), she could deserve to be recognized as a Scream Queen?
